Cabin's I'd love to stay in

Breezy on Superior, Minnesota
Studio to 2 bedrooms on Lake Superior. Recently redone and gorgeous looking.

Medicine Creek, Nebraska
2 bedroom state park cabins that look brand new, but no fireplaces.

I'm sure I will be adding to the list, but that's all I got for today :-)

Holy Family Shrine, Gretna

My sister and her husband were recently in town and although she has technically lived in Nebraska for longer than I have since she's older, she hasn't seen much of it besides relatives houses and state parks. Obviously we had to do some good touring and show them the sites! And I got to visit some I'd never seen before either, including the shrine. You can see it from the highway, but I'd never had a chance to see it up close.

Beer art!

Day 4 was this awesome beer map with 50 openings for bottle caps. We got it put together and hung up today, fittingly starting the map with Lincoln's first microbrew, Empyrean. Here's to a year of filling it in!

Cabin 41 - Mahoney State Park

Back in November hubby and I and some family rented a four bedroom at Mahoney State Park for some game playing and food eating and football watching and marshmallow toasting. It was pretty fun, but this is technically my cabin review, not the weekend review.
Details:
4 bedroom (each had a king bed and vanity)
2 bathroom
Kitchen with dishwasher and three sinks
Double fireplace between dining room and living room.
2 dining room tables
1 couch and 2 loveseats
Screened in porch with 2 tables
Folding cot and crib available, but we didn't use either.

One thing that was lacking was extra blankets. Most Nebraska state parks have these standard issue cream colored polyester blankets everywhere, but there weren't any in this cabin. Thankfully we brought some extras ourselves and the fire was basically going constantly.

Front of cabin with large front porch
One of the bedrooms, I always forget to take pictures before we mess everything up!
Living room with double doors onto the back porch.
Looking into the kitchen. It looks like we had a crazy party, but it was just a 2 year old playing on the couch.
It was too cold to take real advantage of the screened in patio, but it was nice and big!
Dining room and kitchen with front door on the right.

Overall, 5/5. Whenever they're available and we can get 3 other couples to split it with us, we'd do it again!

12 Days of Christmas

This year for the hubby I did 12 Days of Christmas and had him unwrap one present every day from Dec 13th to Christmas. There was some issues with this:
1. You have to be basically done shopping by the 13th. I say basically, because there were four IOU's wrapped up in these packages of stuff I knew I wanted to get, but didn't actually get yet.
2. Do you count up or down? Is Christmas the last day or the first day?
3. I may have put too much effort into these presents and not enough into his birthday, which was the 15th. Ooops. Good thing he's understanding.

Stickers from the Target Dollar section. Gift wrap mostly from old brown paper bags.

His first present was his yearly Giraffe ornament. He's my giraffe :-)

Hurt's Donuts and Boiler Room Brewing

What: Andes Mint donut, S'mores donut, lots of beer
Where: Hurt's Donut, Lincoln NE
When: Wednesday, December 28th 2016

I really do like Hurt's donuts, but man are they huge. S'mores may be my favorite one. It's on a plain yeast donut, the Andes Mint one is on a chocolate cake donut. Donuts 4/5

As for the beer, I call Boiler Room as sipping beers. Very flavorful, and thankfully sold in 4 oz tasters, so you can basically make your own flight anytime you want. Many I couldn't drink a whole pint of, but the hubby does like some enough to get full glasses.  Beers 3.5/5

New iphone!

Actually, I got it near the end of October, but this fall was crazy! We traveled a bunch, including a weekend in Minneapolis and a weekend in St Pete Beach for work. So I may have deserted you guys for a bit, but I'm back and have lots of stuff to catch you guys up on! This year the focus may shift from donuts to other reviews, like beer or exercise products or hotels. Or whatever has caught my fancy that week. Any suggestions or ideas?

Happy New Year!
