The death of my iphone

My 4s, hand me down iphone, has died. Or should I say needs to be reformatted . Which will take away all my donut pictures! And other pictures of stuff to review, like the cabin we stayed in last weekend in South Dakota. I am very sad and should have figured out how to use the cloud better :-( After I reviewed the last donut place and our cabin, I was going to tell you all that I was taking October off. So until I figure out my smart phone situation, enjoy fall! See y'all in November!

Kitchen Sink

What: Chocolate cookie! And Pumpkin Spice Latte woopie pie
Where: Kitchen Sink Cookies, 27th and O, Lincoln NE
When: Saturday, September 3rd, 2016

I've had a lot of nonreviews recently, or reviews of nondonuts, I haven't had many new donut places to try recently. I guess I need to travel more! Here is a donut cookie from one of my favorite cookie places, Kitchen Sink Cookies. They make amazing cookies and have some first class decorators.
The chocolate cookie looked better than it tasted but the pumpkin latte was AMAZING. Super soft woopie pie, the coffee frosting in the middle, and the chocolate ganache was a great combination. I can't wait to try another one! 5/5 for sure

Friday Donuts

My new job is pretty sweet. And I just made a terrible pun. We get donuts on Fridays! We rotate who brings them in, I'm in a couple weeks. And last week we even had two donut days because it was someone's birthday on Thursday. Makes working with high schoolers a little easier :-)

Aloy's 125th Anniversary

My mom is from a small town in Eastern Nebraska. Like tiny small. It is just an intersection now. There are a couple houses and a church. And the church is now 125 years old! We were able to go to the anniversary party and it was pretty awesome.

We stopped at a Nebraska Passport stop on the way in Columbus (Sip Espresso Bar) and I got a pretty awesome ice cream sandwich. Hubby got a cookie. I think my ice cream sandwich was better.

The scenery was pretty awesome on the drive too.

At the church there was a special mass, a blessing of a new statue of Mary, a big dinner, a keg, and tons of pictures to check out. This one of the guys digging possibly the church basement, had my great-grandfather in it!
There was quite the crowd there, and it was almost a small family reunion of my mom's dad's side.

Ramona Susan's

So, technically not a donut but a cake. And technically not one that I've tasted. But I thought you guys would get a kick out of the picture anyways. (And btw, my sister's bakery is in Philadelphia PA if anyone is every there and wants to check it out!)

Victoria Springs State Park

I planned some Passport Trips when I was bored one day at the beginning of summer and found cabins nearby so that we could hopefully stay at one. And my aunt took me up on one of them! We did Central Nebraska for 3 days, 2 nights, and stayed at a "two bedroom" cabin in Victoria Springs State Park, one of the oldest state parks in Nebraska.

The cabin was $65/night and worked for us. But as you can see by the pictures, wasn't really 2 bedroom. More of one bedroom + alcove. It had a window unit that worked pretty well, we couldn't really turn it off because then it would get musty inside and I couldn't get any windows to open.

The park had two cabins and about 40 tent/rv sites. The weekend after we were there was a Ham radio convention, so it was starting to fill up by the time we left. The lake/pond in front of the cabin had some green stuff all over it, so we didn't venture in. And neither of us fish, so that wasn't a problem to skip either.

It was great to stay so close to the passport sites we were visiting, but I don't think we'll be making this park part of our normal rotation. I can't remember how I grade cabins, but I'm going to say 2/5 for this one.

Don Leden's Cafe & Donuts

While in the small town of Stromsburg (Swedish Capital of Nebraska) for a Passport Tour stop, my eye found the local donut place. Because of course I always see donut signs! Sadly, it was closed. One of my favorite closed signs, and I hope this means we can check it out in the fall!
